Party Favors
If you are hosting a birthday party and need an idea for party favors, then get a few small plain tin box at the craft store. Decorate the body with stickers. Sand the lid and paint it in the color you desire. Let the paint dry completely and then spray a layer of sealer over it. Before the sealer dries, sprinkle some glitter on the lid. Print out a photo of the birthday boy or girl on a large label. Cut it down to size so that it fits on the center of the lid. Remove the backing and stick it on the lid without letting the label bubble. Fill the finished tin with Jordan almonds or assorted candy.

Recipe Tins
If you have a top-loading tin box, then convert it into a customized recipe tin box. Sand the tin box so that the paint can go on evenly and grips. Use either spray paint or acrylic paint and a paint brush to paint the entire tin box in the color of your choice. Use acrylic paints and finer brushes to paint any designs you desire such as flowers, cherries or polka dots. Set it aside and let the pain dry completely, and then apply a layer of sealer over the entire surface to protect your paint job. Print out a few recipe cards or write them out on index cards if you have nice handwriting and place them in the finished recipe tin to start it off and give it as a birthday or holiday gift.

Popcorn Tin
If you have a large metal box such as the ones that carry bottles of alcohol, then convert it into a popcorn tin  and give it to a film buff who enjoys hosting movie nights. Print out old movie posters or old glamor shots from the '20s and '30s. Cut the poster images or photos down size. You should have enough to cover the body of the tin box. Do not worry about images overlapping. Using a sponge brush and craft glue, glue each poster image or photo one at a time to the tin box. Smooth out any creases with a dry cloth. Let everything dry completely. Add a couple of coats of craft glue to seal it and let it dry thoroughly. Fill the finished tin with popcorn.
